Dr. N. Ramakrishnan - Managing Director & CEO

Dr. N. Ramakrishnan is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Critical Care Medicine & Sleep Medicine and also has a Master’s degree in Medical Management from the University of Southern California. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM), Indian College of Critical Care Medicine (FICCM) & Indian Sleep Disorders Association (FISDA).

He has been practicing Critical Care Medicine for about 15 years and Sleep Medicine for over 10 years and is currently Senior Consultant in Critical Care & Sleep Medicine & Director, Critical Care Services for Apollo Hospitals,

Chennai which is the first and largest Corporate hospital in India. He is also President of the Indian Sleep Disorders Association (ISDA) and Vice- President & Educational Coordinator of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM). He is an Adjunct Professor at Tamilnadu MGR Medical University & Apollo Hospital Education & Research Foundation (AHERF) and has several original publications to his credit. He is also an invited speaker in national & international conferences of professional societies. He has won several prestigious awards including ‘Best Doctor Award’ from Tamilnadu Medical University & ‘Young Achiever Award’ from Vaishnav Group of Institutions.

Dr. Ramakrishnan returned to India after working in the UK & US for over 13 years with a goal of making a difference to healthcare in India. He has several ‘firsts’ to his credit including establishment of the first private group practice model in Critical Care (Chennai Critical Care Consultants), first simulation based healthcare training center (TACT Academy for Clinical Training), first free standing comprehensive sleep center (Nithra Institute of Sleep Sciences).

Dr. Ramakrishnan is the Medical Director of AICU Chennai Monitoring Center and was instrumental in creating the first ever remote monitoring center for critical care outside the United States providing care to critically ill patients separated by several continents. The center has been successfully providing care since 2010


Dr. R. Senthil Kumar - Executive Director, Business Development

Dr. R. Senthilkumar has a postgraduate degree in Anesthesia from Government Medical College, Nagpur, where he was ranked first in the university. He subsequently worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Anesthesia, Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, Chennai. He has completed the Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM) and European Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (EDIC) and is currently a Senior Consultant in Critical Care Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.

He is also a recognized teacher and examiner for ISCCM conducted critical care training programs. He has published studies and authored chapters in critical care books. He also served as Secretary of the Chennai Branch of ISCCM. He has keen interest in improving bedside care for critically ill patients in a resource limited setting and also designing ICU's. He believes that technology would be the best solution to reach more lives.



Dr. Ashwin Kumar Mani - Executive Director, Clinical Informatics

Dr.Ashwin Kumar Mani is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Ashwin trained at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and then did his fellowship in the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He has over 10 years of experience in clinical medicine. He has almost 1000 hours of remote ICU monitoring experience for multiple hospitals in the USA. He is an Intensivist at AICU Chennai Monitoring Center, which is the first remote monitoring center in the world for US hospitals located outside the USA.

He is actively involved in teaching and is an accredited teacher for the Diploma and Fellowship Programs in Critical Care accredited by Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine and also for the Fellowship program of National Board of Examinations, India.

He is also an examiner for IDCCM. His interests include ARDS, noninvasive ventilation, pulmonary hypertension, infection control in the ICU , interstitial lung disease and smoking cessation . He has several original publications and has presented at many conferences in India and abroad. He is currently the consultant in Charge of the Critical Care Unit at Apollo First Med Hospitals, Chennai.

Dr.Ashwin Kumar Mani is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine , Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. He is a part of AICU Chennai PVT LTD , which is the first remote monitoring Center in the world for US hospitals located outside the USA. He is actively involved in teaching and is an accredited teacher for the IDCCM and IFCCM courses . He is also an examiner for IDCCM. His interests include ARDS, Non invasive ventilation , pulmonary hypertension , Infection control in the ICU , Interstitial lung disease and smoking cessation . He has several original Publications and has presented at many conferences in India and abroad. He has a special interest in the use of mobile technology in improving medical care and patient communication .

He is currently the consultant in Charge of the Critical Care Unit at Apollo First Med Hospitals , Chennai.



Dr. Ramesh Venkataraman - Vice President, Clinical Affairs

He is American Board certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. He is also a Fellow of American College of Physicians (FACP), American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) and American College of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM). He was an Assistant Professor in the prestigious Department of Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which prides itself with the largest multidisciplinary critical care training program in the world. He has won several distinctions and awards throughout his tenure in the US.

He is currently a consultant in Critical Care Medicine & Academic Coordinator for Department of Critical Care Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.

Dr. Ramesh Venkataraman has completed a post- doctoral certification in clinical education and has a special interest in simulation-based education. He has several original publications including a few on the applications and value of simulation-based education. He has also authored numerous book chapters and editorials. He has been providing remote ICU monitoring services for Advanced ICU Care Inc., USA for the past one and a half years and has several hundred hours of experience in Tele-ICU monitoring and management.



Dr. Babu K. Abraham - Vice President, Clinical Affairs

Dr. Babu K Abraham has a postgraduate degree in Medicine from the prestigious Kasturba Medical College in Manipal. He subsequently trained in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care medicine in the United Kingdom and is a Member of Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), United Kingdom. He then pursued fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at University of Toronto. He is currently a consultant in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai.

He has been conferred the Fellowship of the Indian College of Critical Care Medicine (FICCCM). He is a recognised teacher and examiner for the Indian Diploma in Critical Care Medicine (IDCCM) and the Indian Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine (IFCCM), being conducted by the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM).

His interest in Critical Care Medicine primarily lies in hemodynamic monitoring of the critically ill patient, antibiotic policing in the ICU, simulator based training for acute care medicine and remote monitoring and management of the critically ill. He is one of the directors for India’s first simulator based training centres, the TACT Academy for Clinical Training Pvt Ltd. He is actively involved in clinical research and has authored original publications in journals of repute. He is well respected as a clinician and teacher in the pulmonary and critical care fields and has been an invited faculty for many national and international conferences.
